2. Dizziness or Lightheadedness
Metoprolol can lower blood pressure and slow the heart rate, which may sometimes cause dizziness.
This may be more noticeable when:
standing up quickly
getting out of bed
exercising
starting treatment or increasing the dose
Standing up slowly can help reduce lightheadedness. Severe dizziness, fainting, or repeated near-fainting should be medically evaluated.
3. Slow Heart Rate
A slower pulse is an expected effect of beta blockers, but in some people the heart rate can become too slow.
Possible symptoms include:
weakness
dizziness
unusual fatigue
fainting
shortness of breath
Do not change your dose based only on your pulse without medical advice. If you have symptoms together with a very slow heart rate, contact a healthcare professional promptly.
4. Low Blood Pressure
